Assoc. Prof. Dr. Soorathep Kheawhom delivered a plenary lecture at IUMRS-ICEM 2026 — the 19th International Conference on Electronic Materials — held 28 June – 1 July 2026 at The Empress Convention Centre, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The talk, “Beyond Materials: Understanding Electrochemical Energy Systems through Operando Science,” argued that durability in non-lithium batteries is produced by a causal chain rather than by any single material property. Read through the group’s Coordination–Transport–Interface (CTI) framework — from the first solvation shell, through bulk transport, to interfacial evolution — and watched with operando synchrotron characterization, the electrochemical system, not the material alone, becomes the unit of study.
