Session 2 · Independent study

Experimental VLE,
consistency and fitting

Follow the narrated slides, stop to calculate, and investigate the same data in Lab 08. Start with the ideal-mixture ideas from Session 1; the activity coefficient is introduced here.

  1. Open the four-page worksheet. Keep it beside the video, or print it.
  2. Prepare a calculator and paper. Start the video from Slide 1.
  3. Leave Pause for activities on. Do the work, then select Continue to next slide.
  4. For the review test, submit your own Q1–Q6 attempt before Slide 26. The form shows worked solutions after a successful submission.

Video time is not lesson time

The recording is about 25 minutes. Allow about 3 hours including calculations, the Lab, a break, and review. Timing labels on the slides refer to elapsed study time. Pause as long as you need before continuing. Open Lab 08 when you reach the Lab activity at study minute 100.

Welcome to Session Two. This independent lesson is about experimental vapor-liquid equilibrium, consistency, and model fitting. We will begin with the ideal-mixture ideas from our first lesson, then introduce the activity coefficient step by step. You do not need to know what gamma means before starting. Allow about three hours for the whole lesson, including your calculations, the Lab investigation, and the review questions. The narration is only part of that time. When asked to pause, stop the recording and do the activity before continuing.

Submit your review test for attendance

The attendance form mentioned in the recording is linked below. Submit your own Q1–Q6 attempt before continuing to the review solutions.

Before viewing the review solutions on Slide 26, open the Session 2 attendance submission form. Enter your student ID and name, transfer your own Q1–Q6 answers with calculations from worksheet page 4, and confirm completion. Submit your original attempt first. Wait for the receipt and save it; the form then displays worked solutions. Review these and optionally submit corrections. Use the review block (145–172 study minutes) for this sequence.

Attendance credit is for completing the activity, not a minimum test score. Keep all four worksheet pages, original answers and corrections, and the Lab exports. The form records your answers for the instructor; the video player itself does not submit work.

Then, at study minutes 172–180, open the separate Session 2 exit ticket and feedback form. It is anonymous and does not identify attendance. Wait for “Response received.”
