Assoc. Prof. Soorathep Kheawhom, PhD, FRSC, will deliver Plenary Lecture 2 (PL2) at ACSSI 2026, the 19th Asian Conference on Solid State Ionics, in Bangkok, Thailand.
The lecture, “Beyond Ionic Conductivity: Coordination-Transport-Interface Design Rules for Durable Sodium Batteries,” will take place on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 11:00 to 11:40 AM (Bangkok time, UTC+7), in Rajamontien 4, Montien Hotel Surawong.
About the lecture
A battery must keep working, cycle after cycle. The lecture will examine why ionic conductivity alone cannot predict durability, and how local coordination affects ion transport and the interfaces that develop during cycling. It brings together recent work on electrolyte design, nanoconfinement in hard carbon, and sodium-ion interphases in full cells.
The presentation draws on three articles from our group and collaborators:
